Just nuts. They renamed the car so they could sell it in a market they were already selling it. To work around a non-binding import guideline. And they didn’t sell any.
How many times have manufacturers tried half-assedly to introduce a new marque to a market, only to withdraw years later? It’s just a dumb idea but it keeps happening. Like when Opel came to Australia a few years ago, selling a mere 1000 cars.
